Overview
Chris Alvarez represents businesses in federal and state court litigation, as well as before administrative agencies, and assists them in complying with labor and employment laws. His keen appreciation of business dynamics and the legal implications of various organizational decisions helps clients achieve results that advance key objectives.
Chris is experienced defending employers in wage and hour litigation, including class actions and PAGA claims, and a range of single-plaintiff actions involving claims of retaliation, wrongful termination, and discrimination. His recent accomplishments include achieving a complete victory in an administrative trial for a construction industry client accused of discrimination and retaliation. In another trial, he saved millions of dollars for a client that was facing claims of employment discrimination and wrongful termination.
He routinely counsels clients on policies and procedures involving employee hiring, leaves, disciplinary actions, terminations, and pay plans.
Chris’ clients come from industries including auto dealerships, healthcare, hospitality, transportation and supply chain, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, and retail.
He is a member of Fisher Phillips’ Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and past president of the Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento.
Chris formerly worked for the California State Legislature as a Senior Legislative Aide, which afforded him an insider’s view of the rules, regulations, and requirements that impact an employer’s operations.
