Overview
An associate in the firm’s Denver office, Janet Himmel draws on a background in human resources and eight years of broad-based litigation experience to counsel and defend employers in all areas of labor and employment law.
Janet represents employers in a variety of employment-related claims in both state and federal court while also advising clients on cost-effective measures to prevent problems from occurring or escalating, including through employee and HR training, employee handbooks, employment agreements, and policies that comply with federal and state employment laws and agency regulations.
Prior to joining the firm, Janet was a litigator and eDiscovery Counsel at an Am Law 100 firm, where she gained extensive experience in complex commercial, securities, and intellectual property litigation in addition to internal and government investigations. Janet also practiced at a boutique firm focusing on commercial litigation in state and federal court.
Before law school, Janet served in the U.S. Army as an Engineer Officer and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Her leadership positions include Chief Human Resources Officer for a 550-soldier engineer battalion.
Janet earned her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served on the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law.
