Overview
Brian Casal is a Partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Brian is a skilled counselor and litigator who focuses his practice on traditional labor and employment matters arising under state and federal laws. He counsels management on all day-to-day issues affecting the employer-employee relationship with a focus on building and maintaining positive employee relationships.
Within his traditional labor practice, Brian has substantial experience representing management in collective bargaining, union organizing, labor arbitrations, strikes and picketing, labor contract administration, plant closings and labor issues associated with corporate transactions. He routinely defends clients against unfair labor practice charges in front of the National Labor Relations Board.
Brian also handles matters relating to the Railway Labor Act, advising freight and commuter railroads in all aspects of labor, employment, and related regulatory issues. He has appeared in matters of significant concern to the industry, including matters before multiple presidential emergency boards, the Federal Railroad Administration, and the National Mediation Board.
In addition to serving clients in the transportation industry, Brian’s clients span a wide gamut of industries in the public and private sectors such as warehousing, logistics, utilities, hospitality, engineering and construction.
Prior to attending law school, Brian served as legislative director and Appropriations Committee associate staff to U.S. Rep. Jay W. Dickey, II, from the Fourth Congressional District of Arkansas and as a staff assistant in the Office of the Majority Whip. As legislative director, Brian oversaw Rep. Dickey's appropriations and legislative agendas and managed his legislative staff in Washington, D.C.
