Dan is an accomplished privacy lawyer and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with nearly 30 years of experience helping clients navigate the complex and evolving landscape of data privacy, security, technology and AI. He joins Fisher Phillips' national Privacy and Cyber Practice Group, and leads the firm’s Data Protection and Cybersecurity Team, a subgroup focused on managing the complex challenges of cybersecurity, AI, and data governance. He bolsters a team that recently welcomed partner Danielle Kays in Chicago and of counsel Kathleen Dedenbach in Detroit. This strategic expansion reinforces the firm's commitment to providing comprehensive legal counsel and representation to clients across all facets of state, federal, and international privacy and data security laws.
Most recently, Dan was a partner at an AmLaw 50 law firm in New York where he advised clients on proactive data security practices, data breach incident response, and data privacy and security regulatory compliance. Dan has represented organizations in large-scale ransomware attacks, as well as cyber breaches by nation-states. Dan’s experience includes providing compliance support on applicable security laws, PCI-DSS, and security audit standards such as the NIST and ISO, as well as conducting artificial intelligence risk assessments for clients and helping companies establish AI ethics, governance, and compliance programs, including with respect to transparency, documentation, policies and training. He also facilitates in-depth security incident simulations, develops, and implements comprehensive third-party privacy and security risk management (TPRM) programs for clients.
Prior to his private practice, Dan served as in-house counsel at multinational telecommunications and cable providers. At Fisher Phillips he will leverage his in-house and private practice experience to help clients identify, evaluate and manage risks associated with privacy and information security practices.
