OSHA’s COVID-19-Related Fines Continue to Build

In a recent press statement, The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it has fined 85 businesses a grand total of $1.2 million for coronavirus-related violations since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. However, management-side attorneys like Ed Foulke told Bloomberg Law that there is a high bar for workers to prove they caught the virus at work. As employers fight these fines, a big problem is determining where workers caught COVID in the first place, he says. “I believe OSHA is sincerely trying to do the best they can with the information they have. If you have information changing week by week how do you deal with that, it’s not easy,” Ed added.
