Overview
Teresa Valderrama is a partner in the firm's Houston office. She has more than 35 years of experience representing employers in all aspects of workplace law, including corporate investigations and compliance, wage & hour collective action defense, and defense of all manner of discrimination, workplace harassment, and other work-related claims. This includes advice and counsel regarding trade secrets/business-asset protection, defense of the Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX) and other whistleblower claims, and litigating all manner of contract and tort claims arising in the workplace.
Certified in Labor & Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1993, Teresa is ranked by Chambers USA among its top tiers of employment practitioners in the state. In July 2023, Teresa was recognized by Business Today as a "Top 10 Most Influential Labor & Employment Lawyer in Texas. Additionally, Teresa has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America since 1999, including as its 2014 Houston Labor Law - Management "Lawyer of the Year," and repeatedly by Texas Lawyer as a Texas "Super Lawyer." Teresa is a former Chair of the Texas State Bar Labor and Employment Law Section Council and long-time Council member, currently is one of three emeritus members of the Council, and speaks frequently on a variety of workplace law issues.
