
Overview
Joseph represents clients in single plaintiff, class action, California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), and trade secret matters, and he also advises clients on various policies, procedures, and compliance best practices relating to state and federal privacy laws. Joseph has significant courtroom experience. He has successfully argued demurrers, discovery motions, motions to compel arbitration, and summary judgment motions. He also prevailed when arguing at the California Court of Appeal on a motion to dismiss and request for sanctions. As a former prosecutor, Joseph first-chaired 10 jury trials which included high-stakes violent felony cases as well as misdemeanors.
Prior to joining Fisher Phillips, Joseph was an associate at a full-service international Am Law 100 firm specializing in financial services litigation and data privacy and security counseling. Joseph also served as a Deputy District Attorney in Oregon, where handled the complex financial fraud and elder abuse caseload. As lead counsel, Joseph prosecuted two Measure 11 cases involving arson and assault in the first degree, and he was co-counsel on a murder case.
In law school, Joseph received a Masin Award for earning the second highest grade in Evidence, he was a managing editor of the Journal of Environmental Law and Policy, and he externed for the Honorable Richard Seeborg in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
