Overview
Deniz focuses her practice on employment litigation and counseling.
As an employment litigator, Deniz defends employers of varying sizes and industries against claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, retaliation, hostile work environment, whistle-blowing, and wage and hour disputes in the employment setting. Deniz represents clients in state and federal court, in arbitration, and before various state and federal agencies, including the EEOC, the Department of Labor, the PHRC, and the NJ Division on Civil Rights.
Deniz also frequently counsels employers, serving as a point of contact for management and HR on workplace-related decisions and best practices for hiring, firing, discipline, and accommodations. She prepares employment policies, contracts and handbooks, and also counsels employers on such policies, workplace investigations, and other related employment issues. Additionally, Deniz regularly conducts training sessions for her clients, ranging from training for HR and management to company-wide trainings for all employees, on emerging workplace issues such as social media and privacy in the workplace, conducting workplace investigations and performance reviews, the #metoo movement, discrimination and harassment, medical marijuana, wage and hour basics, and workplace violence and emergency situations.
Before going into private practice, Deniz served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Thomas L. Ambro of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and held a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Raymond A. Batten, Presiding Chancery Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court’s Atlantic and Cape May Vicinages.
