In this program, our Wage and Hour Team will provide a practical and compliant approach to common scenarios triggering federal and/or state wage and hour obligations relating to employee travel time. We will highlight the importance of correct classification (exempt vs. non-exempt), and will then address the following common issues:
- Home-to-Work Travel (Regular Commute) and Exceptions
- Travel During Normal Working Hours
- Overnight Travel
- Special Short-Duration Assignments
- Gray Areas (Travel for Trainings, Meal Periods during Travel, and Others)
The program will conclude with hypothetical scenarios that illustrate best practices and immediate actions steps to move your organization toward clarity in this confusing area of wage/hour compliance.
