Six Fisher Phillips Attorneys Recognized in San Diego Super Lawyers 2018 Edition

SAN DIEGO (March 30, 2018) – Fisher Phillips announces Partners Christopher C. Hoffman, David B. Monks, Aaron F. Olsen and Regina A. Petty of the firm’s San Diego office have been named to the San Diego Super Lawyers 2018 Edition®. In addition, Partners David E. Amaya and James C. Fessenden were named as “Rising Stars.”
Super Lawyers is a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The objective of the Super Lawyers selection process is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource to assist in the search for legal counsel. To be listed among the region’s “Rising Stars,” attorneys must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less. Only approximately five percent of the Southern California Bar receive the distinction.
Christopher is the founding and managing partner of the firm’s San Diego office. He represents employers in matters ranging from class action litigation to traditional labor matters. Christopher also spends a significant amount of time counseling clients regarding day-to-day employment issues and assisting them in finding practical and proactive solutions to their legal problems. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law (1995) and his B.A. from Santa Clara University (1992). Christopher was previously selected for inclusion in San Diego Super Lawyers in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
David counsels employers on a wide variety of matters, including employee discipline and termination, wage and hour issues, disability accommodation protocols, family and medical leave issues, investigations of harassment and other misconduct and independent contractor issues. His practice includes assisting religious organizations, restaurants, hotels, school districts, credit unions, homeowner associations, professional employer organizations, franchisors, retail markets and medical practices. Monks received his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law (1992) and his B.A. from Rutgers University (1986). He has been selected for inclusion in San Diego Super Lawyers since 2007.
Aaron defends employers on the full spectrum of employment issues, including wage-and-hour class actions, PAGA claims, wrongful termination, discrimination and trade secrets. He also counsels employers on compliance with employment laws and provides trainings for management employees. Olsen received his J.D. from Harvard Law School (2001) and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Brigham Young University (1998). He has been selected for inclusion in San Diego Super Lawyers in 2014 and 2015 and was named a “Rising Star” in 2012 and 2013.
Regina practices in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels and is experienced in multi-district and class action litigation. She advises employers and public agency boards and handles litigation for private and public employers. Regina is the past president of the San Diego County Bar Association and a former member of the board of directors of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. She received her J.D. from Stanford Law School (1982) and her B.A. from Stanford University (1979). Regina has been listed in San Diego Super Lawyers every year since its inaugural issue.
James represents public and private employers in all aspects of employment law in both state and federal courts, and before administrative and governmental agencies. He also regularly defends clients in investigations by the DOL, DLSE, EDD, OFCCP, DFEH, EEOC and other state and local agencies, and devotes a significant portion of his practice to counseling clients and developing measures to prevent litigation and governmental investigations. James earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law (2005) and his B.S., cum laude, from Villanova University (2002). He has been selected as a “Rising Star” by San Diego Super Lawyers every year since 2015.
David represents clients in a wide range of industries, including healthcare, retail and education. His practice is focused on advising employers in both union and non-union settings and defending them in a variety of matters, including discrimination litigation and wage and hour class actions. Fueled by a passion for workplace law and a competitive drive, David works with companies to develop creative and business-oriented solutions that resolve workplace issues while managing risk and remaining mindful of the client's bottom line. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Indiana University School of Law (2008) and his B.S. from the University of California, San Diego (2005). He has been named a “Rising Star” by San Diego Super Lawyers every year since 2016.
