Pay Equity Co-Chair Discusses Pay Transparency Push in Massachusetts

In an interview with The Boston Globe, Cheryl Pinarchick, co-chair of the firm’s Pay Equity Practice Group, shares her insight on proposed pay transparency legislation in Massachusetts that would address wage inequities. The state’s law, as written, would go further than laws in Colorado, California, and Washington to arm job seekers with knowledge of wages.
Cheryl believes the momentum to address pay inequities has been growing, driven in part by a massive labor shortage that has sent tremors through every industry. She notes that the number of requests from employers seeking pay equity evaluations and assistance with pay architecture from her firm has “exploded” in the past year. “Not everybody’s thrilled about it, but I do think many companies are seeing the benefits of doing it.”
