Money Matters: Novel Class Action Claims Under the Washington Equal Pay Act

Join members of the Fisher Phillips Pay Equity practice group for a webinar designed to help employers doing business in Washington confront class action litigation under the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities Act (“the Act”).
The Act’s amendments requiring job postings to include wage scale and salary ranges have directly led to an uptick in costly class action litigation. This development has led to individuals submitting applications to non-compliant postings in order to file complaints seeking monetary damages on behalf of a class of all applicants since January 1, 2023. Such litigation is costly and there are unresolved legal issues regarding the law’s interpretation. This uncertainty supports a more assertive posture from plaintiffs’ counsel and may leave employers unsure of the most effective recourse available to protect their businesses. Taking care to become educated on the Act and its practical ramifications could make the difference if “bet the business” litigation lands on your desk.
Attendees will come away ready to take immediate compliance steps, address class action triggers, deploy risk mitigation strategies, and determine an actionable path to prepare to confront these novel class action claims.
