Irvine Associate Steven P. Alvarado recently authored an article for Occupational Health & Safety regarding workplace safety and discrimination concerns arising from the coronavirus pandemic. Steve explains that this issue is presenting unique challenges for employers nationwide and that employers need to be aware of relevant laws to ensure their workers are safe and to prevent irrational xenophobic fears. Steve covers many topics in his article, including the OSHA general duty clause and whether employers can take an employee’s temperature before work. He also provides employers with some steps they can take to minimize risk in the workplace.
