Fisher Phillips, one of the country’s preeminent labor and employment law firms representing employers, is pleased to announce that Shelby Garland has joined the firm as an associate in the Pittsburgh office.
Prior to joining Fisher Phillips, Shelby served as a staff attorney with Legal Services NYC where she provided advice and litigation services in landlord-tenant disputes. She managed a high-volume caseload from intake to disposition which sharpened her litigation capabilities. Her arrival to Fisher Phillips expands the firm’s Pennsylvania employment litigation team and adds support for the Mine Safety and Heath team in Pittsburgh.
Shelby earned her J.D. from Cornell Law School. During law school, she served as an intern for the Honorable Jill A. Pryor, U.S. Circuit Judge for the Eleventh Circuit, during the summer of 2017, and later interned with the Women’s Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union. Additionally, she was an executive editor of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy, an associate for the LII Supreme Court Bulletin, and was a recipient of the Freeman Award for Civil-Human Rights, an award honoring law students who have made the greatest contributions to civil and/or human rights during their law school career. Shelby earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee.
