Fisher Phillips, one of the country’s preeminent labor and employment law firms representing employers, is pleased to announce that Scott C. Oberlander has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the Philadelphia office.
Scott is an employment litigator with a focus on representing businesses in matters involving employee recruitment, raiding, and trade secrets. He was most recently at a national firm where he counseled employers regarding the drafting and enforcement of restrictive covenants and confidentiality provisions. Scott also litigated restrictive covenant and trade secret cases across numerous industries, in addition to handling general employment disputes and administrative actions. And, earlier in his career, he gained valuable litigation experience as an associate at an AmLaw 100 firm and a mid-Atlantic full-service firm where he represented companies in employment and other commercial disputes across a wide range of industries.
At Fisher Phillips, Scott will be an integral part of the firm’s Employee Defection and Trade Secrets (EDTS) Practice Group representing employers in restrictive covenant and trade secrets matters in state and federal court. As a member of this group, he will craft and help implement robust frameworks to anticipate, prevent, and detect employee theft and carelessness, and he will be ready to prosecute and defend companies in contentious non-compete litigation and trade secrets disputes. Scott will also partner with clients to prevent such workplace disputes by providing extensive counseling on employee relations issues. In this capacity, he will help employers of all sizes develop and implement protective measures with a focus on employment contracts, supervisor manuals, employee handbooks, and training and compliance programming.
Scott’s arrival continues the expansion of the firm’s Philadelphia office that has more than doubled in size over the last two years. Since signing a lease to take the 12thfloor of the Two Logan Square building in Center City Philadelphia, and executing the move in June 2020, the firm has added 21 attorneys, increasing its Philadelphia headcount to 38 lawyers. With a steadily growing demand for its legal work, Fisher Phillips’ Philadelphia office continues to recruit emerging labor and employment talent as well as established practitioners for opportunities to grow its Employment Litigation, Traditional Labor, Restrictive Covenants and Trade Secrets practices.
Scott earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law school, where he served as Senior Editor for the Journal of Business Law and received a Certificate of Study in Business and Public Policy from the Wharton School. And, upon receiving his law degree, Scott served as a law clerk to the Honorable Paulette Sapp-Peterson, J.A.D. of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
