Fisher Phillips, one of the country’s preeminent labor and employment law firms representing employers, is pleased to announce that R. Shane Kagan has joined the firm in an Of Counsel position in its rapidly growing New Jersey office.
Shane has practiced management-side law for many years. He was most recently at one of the big four labor and employment law firms where he represented employers throughout all phases of complex litigation. He is a first chair litigation attorney known for successfully representing corporate and management clients in state and federal courts, arbitral forums, and before agencies like the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). He has handled matters involving allegations of discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation, and restrictive covenant disputes.
At Fisher Phillips, Shane will continue defending our robust client base in workplace law disputes while also providing advice and counseling on all aspects of their employment relationships.
Shane is a thought leader who has been asked to speak and write for national organizations, including the Society for Human Resource Management. He has presented CLE and other training seminars on a variety of litigation topics including third-party discovery and remote depositions. Shane was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2018 and 2019, and since 2021 he has been included in Best Lawyers’ “Ones to Watch: Labor and Employment Law – Management.”
Shane worked as a high school Social Studies teacher for several years before earning his law degree from Rutgers Law School, where he served as Treasurer and Executive Board Member for the Moot Court Board, and was an articles editor for the Rutgers Law Record. Prior to entering private practice, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable W. Hunt Dumont, P.J.Cv. (ret.) in the Superior Court of New Jersey in Morris County.
