Terri Stewart and Shanon Stevenson have been recognized among Corporate Counsel’s 2024 Women, Influence, & Power in Law (WIPL) Awards recipients. The WIPL Awards honor general counsel, in-house leaders, and law firm partners who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in law.
Terri Stewart, Regional Managing Partner of the firm’s Atlanta office, was honored among the top attorneys for “Innovative Leadership,” a category that honors women who are looked at as the ones impacting change and developing new strategies for better solutions.
Terri has made the Regional Managing Partner role uniquely her own. Instead of leaning into the traditional duties of the Regional Managing Partner, Terri decided she wanted to lead with her partners, sharing responsibility of management, fostering inclusiveness, and thus making them feel more invested in the office’s success. As office leader, she has also reimagined associate development in the office so that each associate will have one meaningful touchpoint per month, either via a group training or one-on-one meetings. By making these small but impactful changes, Terri has created a collaborative and inclusive environment where attorneys at all levels can thrive.
Shanon Stevenson, Partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s Immigration Practice, was named a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Champion for her work as Chair of Fisher Phillips’ DEI Committee. Attorneys in this category are regarded as firm leaders who have taken an active role in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the industry at large.
As Chair of the firm’s DEI Committee, Shanon works with the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer, Chief Talent Officer, DEI Committee and members of the firm’s Management Committee to execute on the firm’s DEI Strategic Plan and Goals. Under Shanon’s leadership, the firm has been recognized by numerous organizations who track DEI efforts. She plays a critical role in the recruitment and retention of the firm’s diverse workforce across all experience levels, including law school graduates, experienced attorneys, and professional staff. For two consecutive years, the Fisher Phillips Immigration Practice Group was named an Inclusion Blueprint Champion by Diversity Lab.
Terri and Shanon will be recognized at an awards dinner on Sept. 24 as part of the Women, Influence, & Power in Law Conference in Chicago.
