WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 7, 2019) – Fisher Phillips announced today its expansion in the Washington, D.C. area as attorneys from The Farrington Law Firm join the national labor and employment firm, effective January 1. Six attorneys have joined Fisher Phillips: Partners Daniel E. Farrington, Margaret Jacobsen Scheele and Sarah K. Biran, as well as one Of Counsel and two associates.
Farrington will be co-Regional Managing Partner with Theresa Connolly, who joined Fisher Phillips in June. Connolly has been instrumental in growing the D.C. Metro office and in helping to attract the Farrington attorneys to Fisher Phillips. The firm now has 14 attorneys licensed in the D.C. area.
Fisher Phillips Chairman and Managing Partner Roger Quillen said: “The decisions made in Washington, D.C. frequently impact and change the labor and employment landscape. Therefore, it is important for our firm to have a strong presence there. We are now even better positioned to provide transformative services for our clients operating in the nation’s capital and across the U.S. The attorneys from Farrington Law share our commitment to excellent legal work and client service – the cornerstones of our business – and we welcome them to the firm.”
Daniel Farrington brings more than 20 years of experience counseling employers across the U.S. on all aspects of the increasingly complex intersection of federal, state and local laws governing the employer-employee relationship. He has extensive experience with claims involving discrimination, wage and hour law violations, accommodations for disabled employees, the Family and Medical Leave Act, trade secrets and non-compete agreements. Before founding The Farrington Law Firm, Farrington was an employment litigator in the Washington, D.C. office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP and served as in-house employment counsel to the United States Senate.
Margaret Scheele focuses her practice on employment-related litigation, administrative matters and counseling. Her significant private practice experience coupled with six years as an in-house employment attorney with MCI Communications Corporation, provide her with unique insight into understanding the business needs and objectives of her clients. Scheele previously practiced employment law at Miles & Stockbrige P.C. and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.
Sarah Biran represents clients in employment-related litigation and counsels on administrative matters. She has extensive experience drafting and negotiating contracts, drafting handbooks, conducting internal investigations, and counseling clients on the day-to-day business and regulatory matters that impact her clients’ bottom lines. Biran previously served as associate general counsel for Yale University and practiced in the Washington, D.C. office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
In addition to the three partners, Sherron Thomas McClain joins Fisher Phillips as Of Counsel, and Lauren G. Goetzl and Maxim V. Doroshenko join as associates.
“Fisher Phillips is a well-known and highly respected management-side firm that will provide us with the best national platform to deliver the highest quality work and most effective solutions that our clients demand and deserve,” said Farrington. “There are strong synergies in the services that we provide clients in several key growing industries. These include commercial aviation, financial services, government contracting, healthcare, retail and technology. You couple this with the commitment that Fisher Phillips has to understanding their clients’ business needs and it was an easy decision to join Fisher Phillips. This move will benefit our clients tremendously.”
Farrington and Connolly both stated they share a common vision for continuing to grow the practice in the Metro D.C. area.
