Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, has added Braden Lawes, Senior Government Affairs Analyst, to the firm’s Government Relations Practice Group. Braden will assist co-chairs, Rick Grimaldi and Ben Ebbink in identifying and communicating federal and state policy changes that impact corporate counsel and their workplaces across the country.
Before joining Fisher Phillips, Braden was a senior associate at a government affairs firm in Washington D.C. where he managed a diverse portfolio of non-profit and trade association clients and tracked federal legislation in the transportation, cybersecurity, and healthcare sectors. He has experience guiding companies through the often-complex federal appropriations process, organizing congressional briefings to educate legislative staff on various policy matters, and drafting letters on clients’ behalf to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and congressional committees.
As a member of Fisher Phillips’ Government Relations Practice Group, Braden will build and maintain relationships with key government officials, industry associations, and advocacy groups; monitor, track, and analyze legislative and regulatory developments relevant to client needs; and prepare and deliver advocacy materials, including policy briefs, position statements, and presentations.
“Our clients across the country are faced with a rapidly evolving legislative and regulatory climate at all levels of government, and for employers, keeping informed about proposed legislation and regulations that impact their workplaces is now more important than ever,” said Ben Ebbink, co-chair of Fisher Phillips’ Government Relations Practice Group. “Adding Braden to our team expands our capabilities to monitor for and help clients navigate these changes so they remain legally compliant in this fast-paced environment.”
Braden earned his B.A. from James Madison University and his Masters of Professional Studies in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University.
