Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, is pleased to announce that Scarlett Lopez Freeman joins the firm as a Partner in San Francisco. As a member of the firm’s growing California Litigation team, she joins shortly after the arrival of Frank Magnanimo, a partner, who expanded the firm’s litigation capabilities in the Woodland Hills office last month.
Scarlett joins from an AmLaw 200 firm and brings over a decade of experience representing management on workplace-related issues across multiple industries, including financial services, insurance, technology, healthcare, and life sciences. She has substantial experience litigating on behalf of management defending against a wide range of employment claims, including discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, wrongful termination, restrictive covenant, and non-compete litigation, as well as ERISA benefits litigation. Scarlett is also a regular participant in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including mediations and arbitrations, and has appeared in over 100 days of hearings before FINRA, JAMS, and AAA.
In addition to her litigation practice, Scarlett provides practical advice to in-house counsel to minimize risk in business operations and often guides employers on best practices for workplace investigations, workforce reductions or layoffs, protecting proprietary information, and unfair competition concerns.
“We are thrilled to welcome Scarlett to our California litigation team,” said Jason Geller, Regional Managing Partner of Fisher Phillips’ San Francisco office. “Her extensive experience in defending clients in growing industries like healthcare, financial services, and emerging technology will be invaluable as we continue to provide exceptional client service and expand our capabilities in Northern California. Scarlett brings a deep understanding of the complex legal landscape impacting employers, and her insights will be instrumental in helping our clients navigate the evolving regulatory environment in the state.”
Scarlett earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, a Master of International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, and her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She is admitted to practice in California, New York, and New Jersey and is a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area.
