Overview
Jim Holland is managing partner of the firm’s Kansas City office. He works as a business partner with his clients and focuses his advice on helping them navigate employment issues with as little disruption to their operations as possible. Jim counsels employers about how to avoid workplace issues before they become lawsuits.
When lawsuits cannot be avoided, however, Jim has litigated cases in federal and state courts across the country. Jim works with his clients to obtain practical, business solutions to their employment problems and lawsuits.
Jim also represents clients across the country in collective bargaining negotiations with various different unions. In addition, he has handled more than 300 labor arbitrations since 2000.
Jim has been actively involved in the Kansas City community since he moved from New Orleans in 1995. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce for eight years where he was the Chairman in 2014. Jim was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens from 2008 through 2014 and on the Board of Directors for the Arts and Recreation Foundation of Overland Park from 2014 through 2020 - serving as Chairman of both of those organizations.
Jim is currently on the Board of Directors for Visit Overland Park which he chaired in 2020 and 2021. Since his wife's cardiac arrest in 2015, Jim has actively worked with various organizations (including the American Heart Association and Johnson County HeartSafe) to promote CPR and AED awareness.
